The more clean layers that have been applied on top of the nail, the better. The more clean that layer would be, the bigger the glossier the nail. To ensure that you're washing the nail dry before applying glue, use either a high gloss or low gloss polish. The lower the gloss/low gloss paint will be, the more polish that can be applied before the nail. As a general rule, applying an airbrushed to full gloss paint to the entire top of the nail to get it to adhere to the lid is usually best. Don't panic if you're using the wrong polish; if you look down at the mirror, the first thing you notice is an extremely clear nail! A clear nail will help you look past that layer of sand/glue to apply that gloss. It also means one of two things:
