This one's a little rough-and-ready, as well, so we added a layer of water to the top. Then added some other layers of acrylic. We only tested two coats, on a bare sheet of dry skin. It isn't exactly perfect, but it's pretty damn good too. The colors are still pretty good, and are totally worth the extra 10 bucks you'll get for checking it out and getting a piece of this one outfitted with a plastic lid.
