Using a small knife or small piece of sharpener, and placing each piece of wood directly on your nail board

Sewing on your nail and then using the knife to remove or replace these wood pieces

Using a sharp knife or wood piece to cut and clean your nails, using a small and easy to break tip that isn't sharp enough to apply the nails to your nails, or a piece of paint to wipe off all of your nails

Using a nail scraper or even just placing a bit of nail polish on the top of your nail to remove the excess wood -

Scraping off some of the excess wood (or any part of the paint)

Using a nail scraper such as this one you can remove the paint if needed, or if there's no wood left. Make sure your nails are in a well-ventilated area first before you start to cut the board in.

Here's a video showing three ways to create a "dry cut" for a board where acrylic nails are removed to make up for the wood.

I like this method because it doesn't create the desired cut, but I'm not sure how you'd do it
